Snowpack levels at alarmingly low rates in parts of Colorado The Grand Valley relies on the snowmelt that fills the Colorado River, and the lakes that sit on top of the Grand Mesa. "Statewide, the snowpack is running around 50 percent for what we expect this year," said Chris Cuoco, a senior meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Grand Junction.
